Summary of Your Role
The job holder will be a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed staff member to help support and deliver across our children and young people programme’s in the Watford FC CSE Trust’s Health and Wellbeing department.
Our Positive Minds programme offers coaches daytime, flexible hours to deliver 6- or 10-week mental wellbeing educational sessions to Year 6 classes across primary schools in Hertfordshire. The job holder will be responsible for delivering high quality educational content around various mental health topics and lead on practical classroom games or physical activity sessions.
Our Empower programme is a referral-based programme for 9- 12-year-olds facing barriers with their mental health. The job holder will work alongside another HWB coach and a psychotherapist to deliver physical activity sessions and support the young people’s development through the programme. Empower offers evening hours across Watford and St Albans.
The job holder must be confident to deliver multi-sport and physical activity sessions to young people, have the energy and ability to engage young people and want to make a positive difference to young peoples’ wellbeing and hold a comprehensive knowledge and awareness of mental health and the impact it has on young people.
Your Roles and Responsibilities, but Not Limited To:
- Ensure that when involved in any trust activities that the safeguarding of participants is at the heart of the process and that safeguarding policies and procedures are always adhered to, including reporting all concerns to your line manager.
- Attend training sessions when required.
- Arrive on time to all sessions.
- Engage with young people and promote a fun and positive environment.
- Be willing to be flexible and innovative to cater to the needs of the participants.
- Deliver educational content, prepared by Watford FC CSE Trust, to Year 6 classes in primary schools across Hertfordshire (Positive Minds).
- Support the young people during the wellbeing aspect of the session, this may include managing behaviour or helping read or write on the young person’s behalf. (Empower).
- Plan and prepare physical activity sessions for 9–12-year-olds that are safe and enjoyable, adapting to needs where required.
You must:
- Have an understanding of the Trust commitment to EDI & Safeguarding.
- Ensure that delivery of the sessions is compliant with the programme’s curriculum and guidelines.
- Work alongside other facilitator staff to support each other’s delivery, sharing best practice.
- Be able to manage behaviour and promote a positive environment for young people facing challenges.
- Hold a comprehensive knowledge and awareness of mental wellbeing and the impact it has on young people.
You Ideally Would Have
- Experience managing young people in a physical activity setting.
- Experience delivering educational content to young people.
- Experience managing behaviour or SEND needs.
- A valid safeguarding qualification
- A valid first aid qualification
- A mental health first aid qualification
